Of course my plan to install a Purasan EX treatment system (boat doesn't have a holding tank) led to replacing the old sink and counter, re-plumbing the fresh water lines with aquapex and (soon) re-wiring the whole boat and installing new AC and DC panels. The current wiring is awful.

Today, I finally made some progress. Removing the old sink was surprisingly simple. This new one weighs less, fits perfectly and has the added benefit of catching the rain that leaks through the port light!

Going to add a small triangular counter piece and make new cabinet doors after I finish the Purasan install and replace the head with a SeaEra QC. A new shower fixture will be added as well. The work under the sink isn't complete.. the shelf for the Purasan has to be cut to size and the sink hoses had to be long because it went from 3/8 to 1/2 and that's all they had at the store when I went! It's actually fine that way because the faucet's hoses are cheap and kink easily so the longer loop helps. Also have to shorten the drain hose after I finish the Purasan plumbing.

Time for a beer.

That is a great upgrade. The whole head is so much bigger than my 1-34 . I am thinking through the update now actually.

Hi Mary

You mentioned it was easy to get the old sink out of the cabinet in the head. How did you do it without destroying the cabinet? This has plagued me for years! I boat yard foreman told me to just hit it with a hammer. I just cannot see the foreman's approach as workable.

I would really appreciate learning how you did it. I am really amazed that you could do it.

Thanks for much for your advise.

I was also concerned it would be difficult, but it was in fact barely attached. When I disconnected the plumbing, I was able to remove it surprisingly easily. I just lifted vertically, I think. Sorry for the late reply!
