Hi Folks,
I've got 2 questions for my 2-29.
First it's way past time to get the bottom painted. Now that I've got the new engine in I'm going to take it in
finally. Does anyone in the SF bay area have experience with the SF Boatworks? I'm open to other suggestions
except for Svendson's Bay Marine. I had a really bad experience there and would prefer to not go back.
I'm looking to get the bottom done and new standing rigging.
Second, Now that I have the 3YM20 installed and running I was thinking about getting a 3 bladed MAX PROP.
Right now I have the 2 bladed fixed prop that came with the boat.
Thanks a bunch!

Hi, I have not been to SF Boatworks recently, but I just had the bottom painted and standing rigging replaced on my 34. I gave Berkeley Marine another chance. I called and spoke with Cree who offered me a good deal on the bottom package and rigging. They did go over budget with repairs to the wiring and lighting on the mast; the scope of which I didn't approve. I would not have wanted them to do quite so much work there. They spent many hours repairing lights that I'll never use after I approved a couple wires to be run. They did do good work, and the repairs were technically needed if I want to have the mast in better shape. As I have learned, if you leave your boat at any yard, anything can and will happen. I would say give Cree a call and see what he offers you and be clear that you don't want any unapproved work done! Cree treated me very well.
I replaced my rotten old 2 blade prop with a new (and much more affordable) Campbell Sailer 3 blade about 6 years ago and have been very happy with it. I am not sure how much more performance I'd get with a max prop.

On my 2 29 I replaced a badly electrolysized three blade for a larger two blade. I've noticed an increase in prop walk. Also I've picked up a funny vibration. If you decide to get rid of your two blade and it's not in bad shape I might be interested.

Hi Mary,
Thanks for the info about the Campbell Sailer. I'll look into them and compare.
I'll give Cree a call when I'm ready to take it in, which hopefully will be soon.
I want to do a few more sea trials before committing to a trip from Redwood City.
